The Super Eagles of Nigeria prepare to take on Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Bouaké. Jose Peseiro led Ola Aina to the Pre Match press conference held early today.
This stadium with great significance, designed by the Quadrante Group, has a great memory lane, as many can't forget the blood that was spilled at this venue during the dark days of the war in Ivory Coast. It turns out to become the center of happiness not only to the people of Bouaké but the entire continent at this moment. We remember the role Didier Drogba the African Ballon d'Or winner 2006 played in the memorable peace accord.
*Pre Match Press Conference*
Peseiro hails South Africa by admitting to knowing the power they possess. A team he says has the ability to beat any team, hence they beat Morocco, had a great World Cup reaching the Semis, beating Brazil and his own country's all-mighty Portugal, sent out by this same side. He gets to say his team knows it has to give 100% or more.
Ola Aina says he feels good reaching this stage with the Super Eagles. He and the team are ready for the challenge the South Africans intend to present.
Peseiro admitted Osimhen has a stomach ache and would know more a little later if fit for the game, but several fans believe 'he is out' 'just for now' but 'would be ready for tomorrow's encounter.'
Peseiro asked if having several players playing in Europe in his team isn't scary since South Africa has almost the entire team playing in the SA league and is ready to go hard into 50/50 balls. Peseiro accepts that staying together for long helps every team and South Africa has that as a team, but his players are better, therefore adaptp quicker and have an advantage because they are playing better competitive leagues.
Peseiro questioned about banning phones from certain periods and Aina asked if he sees his coach as a dictator. Peseiro answers that without rules you can't be a good coach. What you show outside the field determines how you would respect and act in the field. Aina agrees Peaeiro has a good balance while dishing out instructions to them.
Super Eagles coach asked if now he is sure of winning the AFCON, since he had always maintained his team isn't favorites. Peseiro believes in respecting every opponent as he says, and believes in the quality of his players as been the reason he chose to coach and remain with this team. He believes he can win the Nations Cup but believing is one thing but getting it right on the field another and the opponents are also preparing too. Aina also believes tomorrow's game is more important than the final for now.
Aina asked if not concerned about starting games early in the heat and also about receiving specific instructions on tomorrow's game. He admits all teams play under similar conditions and says the team takes each game like the last and final game. He goes on to say they also 'enjoy play' during games like the coach always says.
Nigeria has a better statistic over South Africa going into this game and would that be taken as an advantage over them? Peseiro answered by saying his team never goes into games underestimating opponents and every player understands his role in each situation during the match and his team knows they are playing against a team that beat Morocco 2-0 in this tournament.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria seem ready to battle the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, that so believes the Nigerian side is still lauded because of only past glory.
Tomorrow by 5:00 PM the tactics of both coaches Jose Peseiro or Hugo Bross will separate the sides.
