ACE: SOS Degree Four Course Rep Suspended for Protecting the interest of Colleagues

Greetings, great members of SOS Degree Four!

I hope everyone is doing well today.

Firstly, all glory and adoration to God Almighty and Almighty Allah for the successful last Teaching Practice of this 4-year program. I pray that the remaining months left to graduate will be the best for everyone, and in the end, God will crown all our efforts (Amen).

It is no longer news that I got suspended for 4 semesters from school due to the process of fighting for my rights and the rights of my coursemates as the class representative. As students, we deserve to be treated with care and an open heart, especially by our lecturers who are supposed to be our mentors at school. None of us deserves to be treated like prisoners or as nobody's children.

The misunderstanding between myself and Mr. Olaniyan O.D happens to be a great lesson, and it is now very clear that people abuse power and turn a blind eye to the mistakes of the so-called leaders (lecturers). If as students we are being treated like prisoners and being forcefully made to fear a lecturer who is supposed to guide and mentor us, then what is the essence of the so-called education that is supposed to be imparted?

I accept my mistake from the first moment of the incident and have already been to Mr. Olaniyan to apologize for my shortcomings. I have sent different lecturers to beg him on my behalf, as well as chiefs, a king, his uncle, and some close family members to help me apologize for my small mistake of asserting my rights and the rights of my coursemates. However, he refused to withdraw the case and instead did his worst, which he believes will lead to his greatness.

I am sending this message to all of you to encourage you to stay strong and make the most of the remaining two semesters. Be cautious of lecturers who don't care about your well-being and future. We should be motivated to study and learn for a better future, even with the challenges we face in this country. However, none of them is willing to think deeply and understand that no student would be bold enough to face a lecturer and challenge him/her unless the situation warrants it.

Before the incident, I recall that we had reported Mr. Olaniyan O.D to our HOD more than 5 times with different cases, but he made it clear that none of our lecturers could hold him accountable for whatever he did to us.

At this point, my adorable course mates, please stay strong and remain calm to successfully complete your degree program. Let us be united, strong, and hold no grudges against each other.

I believe our Assistant Course Rep (Sherifat), DE Course Rep (Abdul), and Adetunji Fatai (Phatkhay) know how we run the class, and you can always trust them.

I will keep in touch, and I pray that we will achieve great things together in the nearest future.

Sending love from myself and my family to you allπŸ’•
